I've had a root canal recently, and my tooth feels much better now. Why is it important to return for a crown?
The tooth feels better, but it probably has a temporary filling material inside. The filling will keep the tooth sealed for a few weeks but may soon begin to leak. Bacteria from the mouth can get inside the tooth, and the root canal may need to be done again. Avoid these messy and expensive problems by promptly returning for a crown placement.
In most cases, a tooth that has had a root canal will need a crown for final restoration. Most teeth that need root canals have large fillings, breaks, or new decay. We’ll be glad to talk about which treatment is best for you.
